JoAnn first came to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab from St. Louis, Missouri to participate in the Marine Science High School summer course. Inspired by her experience, she pursued a degree in Marine Biology from the University of West Alabama. In that time, she spent two summers at the DISL taking classes. After receiving her master’s degree, she returned to the DISL as an employee in 2007. JoAnn joined Discovery Hall Programs as a full-time educator in March 2013 and enjoys sharing her passion for marine life and the natural world with others. She shares her love of nature with her husband Ryan, a DISL alum, and their daughters, Brenna and Molly.
