Bio
Virginia grew up in Theodore, Alabama, and developed a love for marine life at an early age after spending many hours exploring the nearby beaches and bays with her family. During high school, she realized she also had a love of teaching children, so, she went on to the University of South Alabama to obtain a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in Instructional Design. Before joining the Discovery Hall Programs' team, she taught fifth-grade science and math for more than eight years. While teaching fifth grade she was selected to go on two NOAA Teacher at Sea fishery research cruises out of Massachusetts and Alaska. These research cruises really made her begin to dream about being able to combine her love of teaching with her love of marine life. Working with DHP offers her the opportunity to fulfill those dreams. When she is not teaching, she loves to go camping, kayaking, boating, fishing, and traveling with her family and her huge German Shepherd, Atlas.
