The Alabama Aquarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab hosts a number of events for the public. The free, twice-monthly Boardwalk Talk program offers the public a chance to engage with the experts at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The Excursion Program takes visitors into the habitats studied by our marine scientists, researchers, and students at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.

Discovery Hall Programs, named for the early research vessel, "Discovery", began in 1975, opening the field of marine science to Alabama secondary school students through hands-on field and laboratory experience. Since its initiation, Discovery Hall has expanded its marine education program to include K-12 students, teacher training/enhancement programs, and road scholar seminars. Easy access to beaches, coastal wetlands, Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico provides the Program with an ideal location for marine learning experiences.
All Discovery Hall Programs are intended to increase understanding and appreciation for science and the marine environment by directly involving participants in that environment with dynamic, hands-on activities.
More than 15,000 students a year participate in Discovery Hall Programs via academic year programs and summer camps. Our Marine Educators also offer professional development for educators on a variety of topics to broaden the scope of what is brought into the classroom.
